The firm has long experience in conducting KAP Surveys at the national level. The KAP surveys conducted by the firm were in different areas; health, environment, and water resources and agriculture. Among these surveys was the Baseline KAP of Egyptian Farmers towards Water Resources in 1998. Recently the firm gained intensive experience in quality of care managements through conducting the national services provision assessment survey.
The firm has also gained an experience in conducting qualitative studies. The qualitative methods that were used by the firm include; in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, participatory rapid appraisal (PRA) technique and participant observation. In addition, in many of the quantitative studies conducted by El-Zanaty & Associates , qualitative methods were included to complement and support the quantitative data.

Who We Are?

El-Zanaty & Associates for studies and research was established in 1995. It was founded to provide quality research and studies on various areas such as; environment, water resource and agriculture, population, family planning and health issues. The researches include mainly national surveys (cross sectional, KAP….). The firm’s primary objective has been to participate in the improvement of various services and conditions in Egypt by providing reliable data and sound recommendations that can help in policy reform programs.


Organization's Experience

The firm has long experience in conducting KAP Surveys at the national level. The KAP surveys conducted by the firm were in different areas; health, environment, and water resources and agriculture. Among these surveys was the Baseline KAP of Egyptian Farmers towards Water Resources in 1998. Recently the firm gained intensive experience in quality of care managements through conducting the national services provision assessment survey. The firm has also gained an experience in conducting qualitative studies. The qualitative methods that were used by the firm include; in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, participatory rapid appraisal (PRA) technique and participant observation. In addition, in many of the quantitative studies conducted by El-Zanaty & Associates ,a qualitative methods were included to complement and support the quantitative data. In each of the surveys conducted by the firm, the firm was responsible for:

  • Sample design and selection, including updating the frame, quick count, and listing if needed.
  • Questionnaire development, either independently or in collaboration with the sponsor agency. The firm is also responsible for conducting a pretest for the questionnaire.
  • Recruiting and Training of field staff. The training includes both in house and field training.
  • Data collection and supervision of field staff, including call backs and re-interview.
  • Quality Control procedures which include effective supervision, field editing of questionnaires and office editing.
  • Data entry and verification (Re-entry) of at least 50% of the data. In the entry stage, the firm usually prepares a consistency program to guarantee the consistency of the data.
  • The firm is responsible for conducting the statistical analysis needed with the agreement of the sponsor agency.
El-Zanaty & Associates employs an inter-disciplinary approach to its research projects, which provides it with a unique ability to respond to diverse projects. The firm has all the capabilities needed for conducting various types of research as a result of its integrated resources and diversified experience. The multi-disciplinary nature of the staff allows the firm to cut across disciplines and integrate professional inputs towards achieving readily communicated research and studies. In addition to its full-time professional staff (3 university staff, 4 senior staff, and 14 other stuff ), El-Zanaty & Associates maintains a roster of consultants and field staff, who are recruited for short term and long term assignments, as the need arises. Dr. Famta El-Zanaty is the president of the firm (see attached C.V.).
This firm has the qualifications needed for recruiting the field interviewers (supervisors and interviewers), who are capable of conducting the qualitative and quantitative research needed for any study. The field staff are selected from those with previous experience in surveys conducted by the group working in this firm. All the filed staff have a university degree (males and females). The firm has a roster of around 100 field staff (males and females).
The firm has all the capabilities required for conducting the research. The most recent software used in data analysis and presentations (such as CSPro, ISSA, SPSS (version 9), STATA, Power Point, PageMaker, Flash…), 8 computers (for data entry) and 4 computers (used in analysis), in addition to other computers for senior staff, two laptop computers, a fax machine, three photo copying machines, as well as all the equipment needed for training. Data show is available at the firm (computer presentations).
At present, more interest has been dedicated to understanding the impeding issues for the expansion of different services in Egypt. El-Zanaty & Associates is proud to have contributed to this ongoing process in a number of occasions.
